makeup-artistry

I booked my Makeup Artistry Course back in November after years of being interested in makeup and how to apply it. I found Glam Candy online and am so glad I did. After 10 minutes chatting to Hayley on the phone I was hugely excited and gutted I had to wait 2 months before it began.

And so, on the second weekend in January I made my way with butterflies in my stomach to my first full day on the course. I was a mixture of nerves and excitement – turns out I had no reason to be nervous, I couldn’t have asked for more encouraging, knowledgeable and supportive tutors – they inspired a real team spirit amongst everyone doing the course and helped mold us into the best MUA’s we could be. With the course being split into theory and then different classes for different areas (vintage, bridal etc) it meant we got lots of practical experience on different areas of makeup. The tutors Vicky and Carol also gave really valuable advice on what it’s like to do bridal consultations and tips on what photoshoots can be like and working with clients. They were always on hand to push us a bit further or calm us down while in a flap, a smokey eye looked caused me to almost have a panic attack when it went wrong, but Vicky calmly showed me how to correct the mistake and carry on. The homework assignments were worthwhile and good fun and the prizes each week for the best homework were a really nice touch too.

The end of course photoshoot was SUCH a fun day and it was really inspiring to look around at all us students and see how far we had come – the looks created were incredible. For anyone who has always had an interest in makeup, wants to train as an MUA or just needs a hobby I say BOOK NOW, you won’t regret it. I’m genuinely sad the course has ended but the upside is I made some lovely friends and I know we’ll stay in touch.

Big Thanks to Hayley, Vicky and Carol xx
